Highlights of a 10-year Partnership between The Nature Conservancy, the NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program, and the U.S. Coral Reef Jurisdictions
To further our shared goals of effectively conserving valuable coral reef ecosystems, The Nature Conservancy, NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program, and U.S. coral reef jurisdictions partner to build the capacity of local resource management agencies in Hawai‘i, the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands (CNMI), Guam, American Samoa, Florida, Puerto Rico, and US Virgin Islands. We also support key elements of implementation of the Micronesia and Caribbean Challenge that link to and enhance work in these regions. Partnership work focuses on providing support for key capacity building needs of local governor-appointed natural resource management agencies. Projects include technical assistance, engaging decision makers and targeted stakeholders in resource management priorities, on-the-ground implementation activities, conservation science and measuring effectiveness. Bright spots and lessons learned from our efforts are further communicated and leveraged globally through the Reef Resilience Network.
