From May 11-29, 2026, the Reef Resilience Network hosted a mentored version of the newly updated Coral Reef Management Online Course. During the three-week course, 554 people from 99 countries and territories received training through self-paced online lessons, online discussion forums, live webinars, and live video calls with course mentors.
This course offered the latest science and strategies for effective management, including new material on the impacts of mass coral bleaching and expanded guidance on monitoring bleaching events. Expert-led webinars covered topics including coral heat tolerance and the scope for natural and assisted evolution under climate change, land-based pollution and coral reef management, monitoring for coral reef resilience, and communication strategies for effective coral reef management.
We would like to thank the mentors who contributed webinars to this course: Bryant Grady, Dr. Margaux Hein, Dr. Liam Lachs, David Enrique Carrasco Rivera, and Julia Rose.
This course was developed in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Coral Reef Conservation Program.
