Map of countries and territories reached with RRN training

From May 4 – June 8, 2022, the Reef Resilience Network hosted a mentored online course on coral reef restoration. The course had 453 participants from 85 countries and territories. The mentored course combined 7 self-paced lessons, three live webinars with live interpretation in three different languages (English, Spanish, and French), and discussions with other course participants and mentors in weekly forums. Each of the three webinars hosted presentations by global coral reef restoration experts.

The goal of the course was to provide coral reef managers and practitioners with best practice guidance for common coral reef restoration techniques. Course lessons included: Introduction to Coral Reef Restoration and Project Planning; Coral Propagation and Field-based Coral Nurseries; Land-based Coral Nurseries; Larval-based Coral Propagation; Physical Reef Restoration; Rapid Response and Emergency Restoration; and Monitoring for Coral Reef Restoration.
