Climate-Smart Management Planning – Bahamas, 2024

Map of countries and territories reached with RRN training

In March 2024, 12 marine managers, planners, and conservation practitioners from the Bahamas National Trust (BNT) participated in the Climate-Smart Management Plan Updates Inception Workshop. This 2-day workshop focused on introducing a process for incorporating climate change and resilience into management plans for three national parks (Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park, Lucayan National Park, and Moriah Harbour Cay National Park). Participants worked with facilitators to set the stage by identifying key conservation features and threats and impacts at each site. This workshop was the first of a series of workshops to update management plans to integrate climate change considerations into management strategies.

Staff, partners, and hosts included: Cherie Wagner (TNC/RRN), Annick Cros (TNC/RRN), Joel Johnson (RRN Consultant), Jane Israel (RRN Consultant), Jewel Beneby (TNC Northern Caribbean), Steve Schill (TNC Caribbean), Frederick Arnett (TNC Northern Caribbean), Trueranda Cox (TNC Northern Caribbean), Marcia Musgrove (TNC Northern Caribbean), Lakeshia Anderson-Rolle (BNT), Chantal Curtis (BNT), and Ellsworth Weir (BNT).

This training was organized by the Reef Resilience Network with support from The Nature Conservancy Northern Caribbean Program and funded through the BahamaReefs Programme, a long-term initiative led by The Nature Conservancy in partnership with the Global Fund for Coral Reefs.
