Map of countries and territories reached with RRN training

In March 2025, 19 managers, planners, and conservation practitioners from governmental agencies tasked with protected area management in The Bahamas participated in the Introduction to Climate-Smart Management Planning Workshop. This two-day workshop focused on helping partners in The Bahamas understand climate change threats and impacts, and introducing them to the climate-smart management planning process. The workshop provided participants with an understanding of The Nature Conservancy (TNC) Reef Resilience Network’s (RRN) climate-smart planning guide, practical methods for integrating climate considerations into management strategies, and hands-on experience with climate-smart planning tools.

The workshop was hosted by the Bahamas National Trust (BNT), in partnership with The Nature Conservancy (TNC) Reef Resilience Network (RRN) and TNC Northern Caribbean Program. Staff, partners, and hosts included: Michelle Graulty (TNC/RRN), Joel Johnson (RRN Consultant), Jane Israel (RRN Consultant), Frederick Arnett (TNC Northern Caribbean), Jewel Beneby (TNC Northern Caribbean), Trueranda Cox-Miller (TNC Northern Caribbean), Lakeshia Anderson-Rolle (BNT), Alyssa Bastian (BNT), Chantal Curtis (BNT), Regina Hepburn (BNT), and Ellsworth Weir (BNT).

This training was funded through the BahamaReefs Programme, a long-term initiative led by The Nature Conservancy in partnership with the Global Fund for Coral Reefs.
