Strategic Communication for Reef Conservation Training – American Samoa, 2024

In September 2024, the Reef Resilience Network led a one-day training for six participants in American Samoa representing the American Samoa Department of Marine and Wildlife Resources, National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa, Nature's Educational Laboratory of American Samoa, Leone High School, and the Coral Reef Advisory Group. Participants reviewed the six goals and their associated objectives in the 2019-2024 CRAG Education & Outreach Strategic Communication Plan, identified potentially new goals, and prioritized the unfinished education and outreach goals and objectives remaining in the plan. Participants also learned about the Network’s strategic communication planning process, including setting goals and objectives and crafting effective messages.
The training was coordinated in partnership with the Coral Reef Advisory Group and funding was provided by the NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program. Thank you to our trainers, Michelle Graulty (TNC/RRN) and Ann Weaver.
