Thank you to the 170+ Reef Resilience Network members who completed our survey! Explore the graph below to see which regions survey respondents work in.
According to survey respondents, webinars and online trainings were the most popular resources and activities that the Reef Resilience Network provides. We have at least three more webinars planned for 2024, including a new webinar partnership with ICRI (the #ForCoral Webinar Series), and we just launched a new Sustainable Livelihoods Online Course! We are also planning updates to our Wastewater Pollution and Coral Reef Restoration Online Courses. Article summaries were not as popular as the other resources, so we plan to communicate with you via email more frequently when these are made available on our website. These summaries are designed to be read in two minutes or less so the latest science can be at your fingertips in an easy-to-read format.
81% of survey respondents agree or strongly agree that they have learned effective management practices from Network resources, trainings, or experts, with 76% stating that they have applied what they learned from Network resources while implementing management activities. We always appreciate learning how our resources and activities support members in their work!
“I was brand new to marine resource management and all of the Network webinars have been incredibly helpful in bringing me up-to-speed with management principles and strategies...Marine resource management learning resources are hard to find and not only does RRN fill that gap, but it does so with engaging, high-quality content. As a result, I have often shared RRN resources with other coworkers who are new to the marine resource management field.” - Network member survey respondent
We currently have 18 science and strategy toolkits on reefresilience.org. To guide our efforts to keep these resources updated—and add new toolkits—we asked survey respondents which management topics are most important to their work. Monitoring and assessment, reef restoration, and MPA management were the topics of greatest interest right now. We just released a new toolkit on MPA finance and will be releasing new resources on MPA management effectiveness in 2025, as well as updated reef restoration resources. We will explore ways to address your need for additional resources related to monitoring and assessment.
We always strive to communicate effectively and efficiently with our Network members, and recently added LinkedIn to better meet their needs. In this survey, 78% of respondents indicated they prefer email announcements. Instagram was the least popular communication channel, so we are not planning to invest time in an Instagram account yet and will continue to monitor preferences moving forward.
Thank you again to each Network member who completed the survey and offered to follow up with us! We are eager to incorporate your feedback in the coming months. If you have any other suggestions for the Network, please email us at resilience@tnc.org.
