Coral Reef Restoration Mentored Online Course – Virtual, 2025

For the third time, the Reef Resilience Network hosted a mentored online course on coral reef restoration. The course ran for five weeks, from September 29 - October 31, 2025, and had a record 570 participants from 96 countries and territories. It combined seven self-paced lessons, three live webinars with global coral reef restoration experts, and discussions with other course participants and expert mentors in weekly forums. For the first time, this mentored course also featured exclusive recorded content, including Stories from the Field videos and a podcast episode.

This course provided coral reef managers and practitioners with newly updated best practice guidance for common coral reef restoration techniques. Course lessons included: Introduction to Coral Reef Restoration and Project Planning; Coral Propagation and Field-based Coral Nurseries; Land-based Coral Nurseries; Larval-based Coral Propagation; Physical Reef Restoration; Rapid Response and Emergency Restoration; and Monitoring for Coral Reef Restoration.
