Ocean sewage pollution is an enormous environmental problem that few people are talking about. During this series of online activities and events, we will discuss and demystify this massive ocean issue and innovative approaches being used to address it.
In the kickoff webinar on this topic, Dr. Stephanie Wear of The Nature Conservancy provides an overview of the issue of ocean sewage pollution; how sewage impacts the well-being of the environment, coral reefs, and coastal communities; and why we need to act now to mitigate it. Stephanie debunks some commonly promoted beliefs for how to address sewage and discusses the importance of creating awareness on a larger scale to compel government agencies, funders, and the public to work toward a solution to address the threat of ocean sewage pollution.
