This webinar took place on November 20, 2025, as a part of the Management Effectiveness for MPAs Mentored Online Course. Nick Salafsky, Founder and Executive Director of Foundations of Success and co-chair of the IUCN WCPA Task Force on Effectiveness and Outcomes, highlighted why assessing both processes and outcomes is critical to understanding management effectiveness. He also shared progress on a new PAME framework being developed through the Task Force to support meaningful tracking of global 30x30 commitments.
In addition, Yonela Mahamba and Ntombovuyo Madlokazi from South Africa’s Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment shared their country’s experiences applying PAME to strengthen protected area management. The presentations were followed by a Q&A session.
