Seafood Supply Chains
This section provides a resource for managers, scientists, fishers, and other industry players seeking to harness the power of supply chains to promote sustainable management in artisanal fisheries. The full report can be read here.
Though we call it a supply “chain,” there are few products in today’s global economy that move along a simple, linear track, from production to consumption. From clothing to cars to cod, modern supply chains resemble increasingly complex networks of people and companies worldwide that produce, transform, aggregate, separate, package, transport, store, ship, trade, sell, and serve goods. Global supply chains have become sufficiently complicated, such that there are advanced degrees in supply chain management. And few supply chains are more complex, convoluted, and cryptic than those involving seafood.
