Assessing MPAs to Support Adaptive Management Webinar

This webinar was originally presented as part of the 2025 Management Effectiveness for Marine Protected Areas Mentored Online Course. It focuses on how protected area management effectiveness (PAME) assessments can be used to support adaptive management.

Host mentors Meghan Gombos and Annick Cros were joined by Dr. Hesti Widodo, Senior Marine Technical Consultant, Coral Triangle Center; and Debra Laan, Natasha Gorong, and Tazmin Falan, Co-Founders of Island Resource Conservancy of Wa’ab. Dr. Widodo shared experiences from Indonesia, where PAME assessments are regularly used to strengthen management across MPA networks. Debra, Natasha, and Tazmin presented on their experience applying a PAME assessment to update the management plan for a community-based MPA in Yap, Federated States of Micronesia.
