Monitoring Coral Reefs
Monitoring is a cornerstone of effective coral reef management. It provides the information needed to detect emerging changes, understand their causes, and determine when a management response is warranted. It also helps assess whether management strategies are achieving their intended goals.
By collecting repeated measurements over time, monitoring builds a long‑term picture of ecological change. These insights can help to guide management decisions and help inform and engage local communities and policymakers.
